Gwangan Bridge > Introduction
 

Gwangan Bridge links the 49 plaza, which is located at Namcheon-dong, Suyeong-gu, with Centum City around Haeundae.
It is the longest cross-sea duplex bridge in Korea, whose length reaches up to 7.42 kilometers. It has taken over eight years to build up. The number of companies and persons worked for the project was 28 and 1.6 millions, respectively. The total cost spent on this project mounts up to K.W: 789.9 billions. It consists of the central suspension bridge and a combination of truss and steel box girders which are safely connected to the each end of the central suspension bridge.

The suspension part of the bridge is longest in Korea, and was desigued supervised and constructed solely by domestic engineers. 360 meter duplex truss bridges are connected to each end of the central suspension bridge. The bridge was established to help transport import and export goods fast and safe and to relieve city's traffic congestion. It was designed to stand against the first level earthquake, forty five meter-per-sec storm, and seven meter high sea. It helps accelerate the development of domestic bridge designing industry and strengthen the competitiveness.

From the bridge, you can see an outstanding view of the ocean, Oryuk Islets, Mt. Hwangryeong around the bridge, a white sandy beach, Dongbaek island, and Dalmaji hill.
